Vertis was founded in 1999. Since that time, the company has focused its efforts on the development of technology platforms that are based on a highly innovative dimension of the new and growing field of neurotechnology—the application of electrical therapies to treat diseases and disorders that affect the central nervous system.

The company's first platform—the Vertis PNT™ System (Percutaneous Neuromodulation Therapy)—is a minimally invasive therapy for low back pain involving the delivery of electrical stimulation to the deep tissues near the spine. The PNT System has been reviewed and cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The prevalence of pain-related medical conditions is staggering. As a result, there is increasing interest in the topic of pain management as physicians grapple with the most appropriate treatment for patients suffering from short- and long-term episodes of low back pain.
